Time to pull the head out of the elephant’s you-know-what.
Earlier today, I sent this out to the Twitter hordes:
NY-23 race is indicative of why Republican party won’t be able 2 count on the support of, um, Republicans.
I then had a couple of interesting conversations with some other bitter-clingers about what it’s going to take before the current Republican party power brokers realize that the rest of us are giving them the finger.
This is why it was so amusing when President “Don’t Question Me” told his bobble heads that “Republicans do what they’re told.” It just seemed to be more proof that his Ivy League intellect is off swimming with the Loch Ness Monster.
It is virtually impossible for anyone in power in the GOP to make the case that they know what they’re doing after the last two elections. They have, in modern political science parlance, had their asses handed to them in each one.
The only traction the Right has gotten since President Obama’s inauguration has come from the base. The real base, not the jowly, old-school base that needs to understand who is in charge now.
There has been wild speculation recently about how many seats Republicans could pick up from vulnerable Democrats. My response to this enthusiasm has remained the same: never underestimate the ability of the Republican Party to thoroughly f things up.
Yeah, this ain’t my first rodeo.
In reality, the only thing the old guard understands is money. They’ve still got enough of it flowing through Dementia Land to convince themselves that they are in power. Yes, the polls and one more demoralizing election will get some attention but nothing will do the trick like diverting the flow of funds. If the candidates who the party should be, but isn’t, supporting get more money than the party-anointed idiots (Can I get a “Charlie Crist” in the house?!?), even the RNC might notice.
Might.
Pay no attention to the men in diapers behind the curtain, they’re running a scam now. The momentum arrow is moving in a direction that’s unfamiliar to them and the poor dears are more confused than ever.
So let’s help them by taking all of the important decisions off their plates.
